ANNE HENNING BYFIELD
MANAGING PARTNER


Anne Henning Byfield is one who dares to Live, Learn and Lead. She lives a life filled with creativity and passion as a psalmist, a poet, motivational speaker, preacher, spoken word artist, strategic consultant, writer, composer, wife, mother and grandmother. Known for her unique brand of leadership, presentation style, humor and passion for living; annehenningbyfield leads by example, inspires and develops others to lead their best life. A multitalented individual, she has worked in diversity management, research, training and development. She has a gift of combining multiple mediums with a unique approach to leadership and change.

She wrote the litany used for Mrs. Rosa Parks’ funeral in Detroit, Michigan, and Congresswoman Julia Carson’s funeral in Indianapolis. She performs in many Spoken Word settings and is producing a Spoken Word CD. Her book of poetry The Essence of my Existence is scheduled to be released in March and Issuing A New Press Release, a book on leadership will soon be published. She creates art cards, which fuses social and spiritual consciousness with poetry. Married to Ainsley and they have one son, Michael, and a grandson, Miles.


Her other works include: Let the Worship Begin, A book of Liturgy; Odyssey-a Girls Mentoring Program, Preparing Leaders for Leadership; An Adult Understanding of the Hip Hop Culture, Ten Steps to Unleash Your Talent, The Church’s Response to Hurricane Katrina; and Strengthening the Black Family (African American Lectionary), and included in the 4th Edition of Those Preaching Women and the Fall 2009 edition of the African American Pulpit with an article “Living Through Crisis”.

As a learner, She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Wilberforce University, Masters of Divinity degree from Newburgh Theological Seminary; an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from R.R. Wright School of Religion, Johannesburg, South Africa: Harvard Divinity School/School of Government Summer Leadership Program for Community Development, and Ashland Seminary’ Pastors of Excellence. She continues to learn.


As a leader, she is considered both bold and authentic. She is the managing partner of AHB and Associates, which is a consulting firm to help clients unleash their talents. She has done extensive training and consulting in organizational transformation, and leadership development with universities, nonprofits, and faith based institutions. Profiled in numerous newspapers, journals and books, she is included in The Trumpet to Zion and received the King Drum Major for Peace Award and Jarena Lee Preaching Award among others. She is Dean of the Fourth District Board of Examiners, a member of Payne Theological Seminary Board of Trustees, Latino/African American Dialogue Group, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and Hoosier Interfaith Power and Light. She is recognized as one of the most 15 influential African Americans in Indianapolis and was named as one of its ten most influential pastors.

Henning Byfield has also worked as staff for Housing and Urban Development, and associate area director for Department of Defense, Department of Labor, and served at the Department of Justice and executive director of the Wayne County Community Action Agency. Her creative skill and energy has been used at Texas Southern University, Indiana University, Fort Wayne, Miami University, Payne Church, Nashville, St. Paul CDC, among others.

An ordained itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church she is the first woman to be a Presiding Elder in the Fourth Episcopal District and is believed to be the first woman appointed whose father was a presiding elder. She is the presiding elder of the North District Indiana Annual Conference(24 churches), and served as the presiding elder of the South District for 4 years. She has the distinction of being the first AME woman preacher to preach at Wesley Chapel, London England (John’s Wesley’s Cathedral) and has been the first in many arenas. She served as the senior pastor of three churches: Bethel AME Church, Bloomington, Indiana, Robinson Community AME Church, Indianapolis, and St. Paul AME Church, Detroit, Michigan. During her 25 years in pastoral ministry, she has instituted Community Development and Social Services Corporations. At every church she initiated spiritual, social, educational, economical opportunities and building initiatives.
